June MG Awareness Month National Proclamation

MGFA has requested President Bush to issue a Presidential Proclamation declaring June 2008 as National Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month and we need your help to ensure that our request is fulfilled.

To increase our chances of success we are requesting MGFA members to ask their respective members of Congress to advocate on our behalf.

All MGnet Chats allow you to have access to information and support.

The Chats are scheduled to last for about one hour and have predetermined topics of discussion to which the expertise of guest moderators is sometimes added.

After the Chat, the floor is open to off-topic discussions and to informal online socializing.

We are looking forward to having you visit!

Myasthenia Gravis is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by fluctuating weakness of the voluntary muscle groups. Muscles that control the eyelids, chewing, swallowing, coughing and facial expressions are most frequently affected. Muscles that control breathing and movement of the arms and legs may also be affected.

Myasthenia Gravis can be autoimmune or congenital. In the United States it is estimated that at least 14 people out of 100,000 have a form of this disease. Many myasthenics throughout the world have never met another myasthenic. The Internet is changing that.

MGnet is proud to be a chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc. (MGFA.)
We are proud to be the first chapter, of any major health organization in the world, located in cyberspace.

Our Mission is to assist the MGFA in their purpose; provide support to isolated myasthenics around the world; connect patients with their local chapters; and bring about greater public awareness of myasthenia gravis all via the Internet and the World Wide Web.

Our Vision is a total connection of all myasthenics to information, support and each other.

Our Location is anywhere there is an Internet connection.

Welcome to MGnet
