Myasthenia Gravis is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by fluctuating weakness of the voluntary muscle groups. Muscles that control the eyelids, chewing, swallowing, coughing and facial expressions are most frequently affected. Muscles that control breathing and movement of the arms and legs may also be affected. Myasthenia Gravis can be autoimmune or congenital. In the United States it is estimated that at least 14 people out of 100,000 have a form of this disease. Many myasthenics throughout the world have never met another myasthenic. The Internet is changing that. MGnet
is proud to be a chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America,
Inc. (MGFA.)
