I am (insert the name of a person and your relationship to them: John Doe's wife) and I have myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disease that causes my muscles to fatigue easily. I frequently have difficulty (insert your own symptoms: swallowing, breathing, walking, seeing as I usually have double vision). One of my greatest sources for hope is an online chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America called MGnet. Their support meetings teach me about my disease and give me a place to share my concerns with other myasthenics. Most importantly, they bring me a connection to information on new research for myasthenia gravis, and this gives me hope. Last year they video streamed a conference for myasthenics over the Internet and I was able to watch and attend through a chat room. They are hoping to raise the funds needed to do this again. Being able to attend this meeting online will bring hope to myasthenics all over the world. I am confident you will consider making a donation to MGnet's March Miracle Campaign. Dear Sir(s): (change salutation: try to send to an individual and insert his/her name) After experiencing a variety o stressful, physical difficulties, I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis I had problems walking, climbing stairs, chewing, swallowing food and even keeping my eyes open. Simple things everyone takes for granted, such as getting out of bed, getting dressed in the morning or brushing my hair, were a terribly demanding task. I also found it very difficult to find the information and the support I needed. I could not go to support meetings that took place far away from where I live, due to the mobility problems caused by my lack of strength. My sense of isolation and helplessness increased. The Internet was a fundamental means to overcoming these problems. I found information and support online through the MGnet Chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc., and with their help I was able to improve my quality of life. I hope MGnet raises the necessary funds to be able to broadcast the MGFA Annual Meeting from Tempe, Arizona in May, making it possible for me to have access to the latest results of studies being done by experts and researchers and the support given by myasthenics from all over the world, who attend the broadcast.
